The Electricity Distributor and Supply Authority (EDSA), Distribution Technical Services Director, Chernor Sulaiman Jalloh was in court as Prosecution Witness (PW1) to testify in the matter against the State and Osman Kamara, accused person in a case of an alleged felony.
The accused person Osman Kamara appeared before Magistrate Marke Ngegba in Freetown on 7th April, 2021. The accused person was alleged to have committed felony contrary to the Laws of Sierra Leone.
Testifying in court, PW1 Chernor Sulaiman Jalloh said he knew the accused person in the said case of stolen properties belonging to the Electricity Distributor and Supply Authority (EDSA). The witness said on the 26th March, 2021 they saw on their Whatsapp group a photo of the accused person with some items that belong to Electricity Distributor and Supply Authority (EDSA). He was later arrested by the Police.
The witness continued that he immediately came to the Criminal Investigation Department Headquarter (CID) to confirm whether the accused person has been apprehended. He later went to the scene of crime at Henesson Street, Kingtom in Freetown but realized that the accused person had cut-off main cables that supply the Western Area.
The witness said the accused person cut-off one by two fourty MMN2 by LPE CU cable (1by 240) with twenty six by five Meter (26.5m) that valued one hundred and seventy six thousand, six hundred and fourteen point four United State dollars ($ 176,614.41) property of Electricity Distributor and Supply Authority (EDSA).
The accused person is charged with three counts charges; committing felony and malicious damage all contrary to the Laws of Sierra Leone. On count one the accused person on the 25th March, 2021 at Henesson Street Kingtom; Freetown conspired with other person unknown to commit a felony. On counts two and three, the accused person being in possession of house breaking materials and count three malicious damage, all contrary to the Laws of Sierra Leone.
Police Constable 15152 Turay H.B is prosecuting for the State, while the accused persons have no legal representative. The matter has been adjourned to the 16th April, 2021 and the accused person was remanded at the Pademba Road Correctional center.
