The Champions of Sierra Leone BO Rangers Football on 19th August 2023 held to a (1-1) all-draw by LISCR FC at home in the first leg of the CAF Champions League Preliminary round at the Southern Arena Stadium.
The match started with a pace play from both teams but the host took the lead in 3 minutes of play as Mohamed Kabba collected a loose ball outside the 18 yard box slot home to get the Rangers the lead in the first half, but that only lasted for some minutes as in the 34 minutes Christopher Jackson level terms through a skyrocketed shot put the ball back of the net. Both teams held on till the end of the first half of play.
Both teams return to the field of play with high hopes from either side of the match with the host looking to take full advantage of the first leg while the visitors were looking to get the results away from home.
The Champions of Sierra Leone Premiere League enjoyed the bulk of the ball possession with lots of chances created but failed to make use of them.
The first-leg results mean the Elephants of BO Rangers need to score a win away from home to get the chance of going through to the next round of the qualifiers for the CAF Champion League campaign.
Alhaji Foray the head coach of BO Rangers said the errors in the first leg will be corrected before going for the second leg of the preliminary round of the qualifiers. He said the players are in high spirits to make the history of qualifying the Club for the next round of the campaign, even though the squad needed a boost as key things were missing in the first leg, and hope to correct those mistakes ahead of the return leg.
Solomon Demby the Assistant Public Relations Officer of BO Rangers Football the Chairman of the Club Babadi Kamara has had a word with the boys on the significant of the return leg match.
He further that, the boys have assured the technical team that they will win the return leg match and progress to the next round of the Champions League, and that the twelve players on the field are going to be there in numbers to support the boys as the Elephants are looking to progress to the next round of the Preliminary and possibly make it to the group stages.
The last campaign in the Champions League Preliminary rounds, the BO Rangers was knocked out by a North African side in Algeria after a (1-1) all draw in the first leg in Liberia.
