The Local Unit Commander (LUC) Waterloo Police Division, CSP Ibrahim M Sama has informed members of the press in a whatsapp group conference that a total of sixty-seven people are in police custody.
CSP Sama informed that the individuals comprise of ten women and Fifty-seven men from various addresses within Waterloo (Tombo junction, 555 park, Gbeyshan, Deep-Eye Water) were found with Kush and Cannabis Sativa together with other harmful equipment.
He said after the raid was conducted at a ghetto, the Police demolished several makeshift structures (baffas) where the drug peddlers and users assembled, adding that the Crime Officer of Waterloo, D/ASP Joseph B Lansana, assured everyone that the arrested persons have made their first appearance at the Magistrate’s Court, King Yard, Waterloo, on Monday the 21st of August, 2023.
He also informed that a 6-year-old Sia Momoh of BBC Compound, Bolima, Waterloo has been pronounced dead after she fell inside a deep and unprotected well inside her compound, adding that the landlord of the house one Dankay who removed the covers earlier placed on the surface of the well in question is on the run after he learnt of the said drowning.
He said the corpse of the six-year-old girl is currently at the Connaught Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
It could be recalled that in July 2023 alone, seven (7) children perished similarly in and around Waterloo by drowning, ensure parents to take care of their children.
