Pay Rise for the Security Sector -JJ Saffa reassures

The Minister of Finance, Jacob Jusu Saffa has said the economy is stable and that his government has worked on the bread and butter issue by increasing the payroll. According to the Minister, the security forces and lecturers will see pay rise effective this month.

He said they have been able to hire more nurses and teachers and now salaries are paid on time despite the COVID pandemic.

He narrated that his government had planned well before the index case was recorded and had projected to raise a hundred million Dollars to respond to the pandemic.

He said seven districts which have not seen electricity for decades are being targeted and are going to get light soonest

JJ Saffa made this disclosure to A-Z newspaper while defending his government’s three years in office. He said the government has planned to increase the number of beneficiaries of the MUNAFA fund from 4100 to over 10,000 Sierra Leoneans.

He said the economy has been managed without much dependence on the mining sector but through proactive leadership, he boasted.

A political analyst in the West end of Freetown opined that what is more bread and butter than giving pin codes to more teachers and nurses and keeping inflation at a low rate within the context of a stabilized economy?
