For Burglary: Civil Servant Narrates Ordeal

19 years old Saidu Sesay alias, Tecno 17 years old Sitta Sheriff, 23 years old Ibrahim Kamara alias Popcorn and 33 years old Abu Bakarr Sidi Sesay alias Shakur have all made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Ross Road on allegation of theft.

They were charged with the Conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to law and Burglary and Larceny contrary to section 25 (1) and 13 (a) of the Larceny Act 1916.  

According to the particulars of offence on Saturday 15th July 2023 at 26b Brima Lane Wellington the western area in Freetown the accused persons conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit Burglary and Larceny.

On count two, it was also alleged that at the same place and date the accused persons with intent to steal broke and entered into the dwelling house of Ramatulia Bundu and stole therein one Iphone 14 pro-max, one Samsung Z fold galaxy and other items all to the total value of seventy six thousand two hundred Leones (76,200) Property of the said Ramatulia Bundu.

Led in her examination in chief by chief inspector Isatu Bangura, first Prosecution witness Ramatulia Bundu working at National Revenue Authority recognized the accused persons as her neighbors.

She said on the 15th July 2023, she was coming from work with her green bag placing it on the side of her head at around 9 pm.

The witness said the said Bag contains Iphone 14 pro-max worth one thousand two hundred dollars, Zphone 2 value one thousand dollars, Samsung A13 value one hundred and fifty dollars, apple series 8 watch value seven hundred dollars, Air Pod value two hundred forty eight dollars, two charges value six hundred thousand Leones, two watch value two hundred pounds, air Bob, hair rings and the bag value five hundred Leones with physical cash of one million Leones with two ATM cards.

The witness said around 5am she wake up and notice that her bag and the mobile phone she was using as touch light was missing.

Explaining further, said when she wake up she saw touch  light and when she shouted her mother and siblings came searching from where the theft come from later they noticed that the window was broken down.

She said she sent her brother Abdulai with the touch light for him to ask around to enquire who is the owner of the said light and his brother  give her information that he has known the owner of the light.

When questioned, the witness said the first accused person was the owner of the said light. Upon receiving  the information she ask the first accused person if he is the owner of the light but he told her that he has no idea about the light and upon that answer,  she went to Kissy police station. The witness said the first accused person was arrested by a police officer named Raymond and when questioned the first accused person told the police in her presence that he is not the one that took her bag but he saw the person who entered her house and took the bag.

The witness said the first accused told them it was the third accused person who entered her house.

The witness said the touch light was handed over to the police. She later made statement at Kissy police station

The accused persons were unrepresented by legal representative.

Having heard the testimony, Magistrate Kekura refused them bail and ordered them to be remanded at the male correctional center in Freetown. He adjourned the matter to the 23rd August 2023 for further hearing.
