In a strive to fulfilling its primary responsibilities, the Kono Students Union (KONSU) has officially launched the 2023 summer Lessons in Kono district on the Theme “Empowering the young generation”.
The ceremony which brought together key stakeholders from the elder’s counsel of the said union, the school quality assurance officer MBSSE Kono and many other prominent personalities took place at the Ansarul Girls Senior Secondary school in Koidu City Kono district.
Speaking on the importance of this year’s summer lessons the president of the aforementioned union Sahr Jawara Allieu noted that the summer Lessons will impact and academically transform many lives in the district. He added that the summer lessons are old as the union itself and that the lessons conducted by KONSU every year is geared towards providing free learning environment for pupils in the city and the country as well.
President Allieu stated that the summer lessons by KONSU every year is a way of giving back to the community in order to empower the young generation with education which he described as the bedrock for any successful nation. President Jawara maintained that the summer lessons will again serve as tool to raise good leaders who will take up leadership positions to effect positive change in the district and the country as a whole.
The national president of KONSU concluded that the summer lessons will be climaxed with a price giving for the best performing pupils with learning materials as a way of motivating them to do more. On his part, the school quality assurance Officer Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education Kono district Abdul Salam Tejan-sie spoke about the government’s commitment in fostering free quality education in the district and the country as whole. He commended the Kono Students Union for their unwavering support to promoting education in the district and urged them not to relent.
