Bo Rangers FC will host Liberia’s Shipping Boys LISCR FC in the preliminary round qualifiers of the CAF Champions League 2023-24 match number 5 at the Southern Arena stadium in Bo.
This was after the Confederation of African Football granted a one match provisional approval to the Southern Arena stadium to host the said fixture at the newest sporting facility in the country.
Bo Rangers will host LISSCR on Saturday 19th August, 2023 in Bo city at 16:00GMT.
While, the returned leg has been scheduled for the 27th August, 2023 at the Samuel Kayon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia, Liberia.
The Southern Arena is set to become the only stadium in the country not named the Siaka Stevens Stadium and outside Sierra Leone’s capital Freetown to host an official CAF Inter-club match for the first time in the history of Sierra Leone Football.
According to the Sierra Leone Football Association Director of competitions Sorie Ibrahim Sesay this comes after the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) granted one provisional approval to the Southern Arena Stadium to host the fixtures.
A total of 54 clubs from (42) members Associations are engaged in this season’s Champion League, while (52) clubs representing 41 members Associations will compete in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.
Bo Rangers won the Sierra Leone Premier League unbeaten going (34) games without defeats. There huge hopes with the Camp of Bo Rangers that the club will go to the next rounds after they were eliminated in the first round last season.
Solomon Demby the Assistant Public Relations Officer of Bo Rangers said the club is high spirit as they brace up for their Champion League opener as they club has bring in news players to boost their man power for the task ahead and there huge expectations with the players and technical team as to how to approach their first match and get the results and progress to the next rounds of the Africa Champion League.
He further that, the Fans and management are in high spirit to give the boys huge support come match day and nothing else but to make it to the next rounds.
