At the Criminal Session of the High Court of Sierra Leone, Moses Adu  appeared before Justice Komba Kamanda of High Court on Tuesday for a count of sexual penetration contrary to Section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act 2002, Act No. 12 of of 2012, as repealed and replaced by Section 4 (a) (ii) of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act No. 8 of 2019, after he was committed to the High Court from the Magistrate Court.

According to the particulars of the offence, Moses Adu on a date unknown between the 1st and 30th November 2021, at Freetown, engaged in an act of sexual penetration with a child below the age of 18 to wit 12 years.

The State Counsel Y. I Sesay Esq. called four witnesses including the victim, Aunty to the victim, DPC 20067 Janneh S and Dr. Ellen Athen who is attached to the Aberdeen Women’s Center, Aberdeen, Freetown.

 In reading the judgment, Justice Komba Kamanda said, he had listened to the narrative of the victim and witnesses, he is of the conviction that the convict Moses Adu is guilty of the offence charge and therefore he is sentence to 10 years imprisonment.

Although the convicts was represented by lawyers from Legal Aid, but he suffered the consequences as he was found guilty.

State counsel Yusif Isaac Sesay Esq Prosecuted the matter on behalf of the State.
