The presiding magistrate of Ross Road Court No.1, Sahr Kekura has ordered one 26yrs old Yusuf Jalloh to be remanded at the male correctional center for theft.

Yusuf Jalloh was charged to court on case file number C/S 1359/2023 for the offense of house breaking and larceny contrary to section 26(1) of the larceny Act of 1916.

 It was stated on the police file that on Tuesday 16th of May 2023, at Soja Town Community, Upper Moyiba Kissy, with intent to steal, the accused break into the dwelling house of complainant Isha Kamara and stole properties worth seven thousand, seven hundred and fifty Leones.

Taking the oath with the Quran and led in evidence by Assistant Superintendent of Police Osman Mohamed Bangura, the second with Hassan Bangura admitted knowing the complainant Isha Bangura and the accused person at the dock.

He said on Tuesday 16th May 2023, he was at home when he saw the accused carrying a generator and a bag.

The witness said on the next day, he saw complainant crying and explaining that she has been robbed.

Enquiring about incident, the witness said complainant told him that someone has stolen her properties and upon hearing that he immediately told complainant who he saw with the said properties and they went to the resident of the accused at Moyiba.

He said on arrival, he grabbed the accused and the chairman of that area intervene, took the accused to a room for enquiries.

Explaining further, the witness said few minutes later the chairman and other people who were at the scene came out and informed them that the accused has confessed to the crime.

Questioning the accused in front of on lookers, the witness said the accused told them that he has sold the properties to someone and when they went to check on the buyer she was nowhere to be see

The witness said he then advised the chairman to accompanied them to PWD police post where the report was made.

He said at the police post the accused confirmed committing the crime infront of them.

At the conclusion of his examination in chief the accused who was unrepresented said he did not have any question for the witness.

The accused was refused bail and was ordered by magistrate Sahr Kekura to be remanded at the male correctional center at Pademba Road and the matter was adjourned to 7th August 2023 for further hearing.
