Lunsar Cycling Club, Village Bicycle Project and Hello Sierra Leone are set to embark on Tour de Lunsar from the 16 to18, April 2021.
According to the Chief organizer, Abdul Karim Kamara, the last four year’s edition has been a success attracting many fans who love the sport. He disclosed that for this year’s edition they have decided to start from Freetown to Lunsar, Makeni and back to Lunsar.
He affirmed that his love for sport has moved him to make moves for the sport to be one of the most recognized sporting disciplines in the country. He said Tour de Lunsar is aspiring to be the biggest competition of international recognition to attract investments in the sport, noting that Sierra Leone has a good road network that will boost cycling to expand quickly.
He is therefore calling on the parent bodies in the Sierra Leone Cycling Association to come onboard to make this competition a successful Tour de Lunsar cycling contest.
Abdul Karim Kamara confirmed that this year’s edition will have International flavor as riders outside the Country will participate.
According to the captain of the Lunsar Club, Mohamed Ben Conteh, the last Tour de Lunsar was not a good one for the Lunsar Cycling Club because they were not well prepared for the Tour. He however assured that this year’s tour will be of a difference, because they are well prepared as they have received more motivation from the CEO.
He added that they are currently organizing ten days tour trials with the aim of selecting the best among the cyclists to represent them in this year’s tour. He expressed confidence that they will be the winner for this this year’s edition.
