The Honorable Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, has on the 31st March 2021, turned sod for the construction of a 100-bed hospital in Port Loko District.
Speaking at the ceremony at Mathasaka former Ebola Treatment Centre in Portloko Town, Vice President Juldeh Jalloh told the audience that the construction of the 100 bed facility hospital is a clear demonstration of President Bio’s dream and vision to deliver equitable health care facility in the country.
“When His Excellency the President Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio assumed power in 2018, he met 6% budgetary allocations to the Ministry of health. As a champion of human capital development, he has increased budgetary allocations to three key sectors: Health, Education and Agriculture respectively. He has increased budget allocations to health from 6% to now 11.4%”, the Vice President averred.
Vice President Juldeh Jalloh also informed the gathering that the government has employed well over 4, 000 health workers to help address the personnel gap in the sector.
In Conclusion, Vice President Juldeh Jalloh on behalf of the Port Loko people thanked the government and His Excellency President Bio for the construction of the health facility. He also thanked the family who donated the land, SLRSFA, NACOVERC and the grand Prince of UAE who provided the fund.
The ceremony was well attended by stakeholders of the district, the community people and representatives of government institutions as well as senior military officers.
