Rev. David Dawn Massaquoi in Domestic Violence Matter

Both Rev. David Dawn Massaquoi and Patrick Joshua Massaquoi accused persons appeared before Magistrate Mark Ngegba on 31st March, 2021 at the Pademba Road Court in Freetown for Domestic Violence contrary to the Laws of Sierra Leone. While they were before Magistrate both accused persons pleaded not guilty.

The accused persons are charged with one count of Domestic Violence contrary to the Laws of Sierra Leone. It is alleged that Rev. David Dawn Massaquoi and Patrick Joshua Massaquoi on the 1st January, 2001 to the 30th November, 2019 at Grass Field Lumley Freetown were involved in domestic violence against Cecilia Massaquoi, to wit brother-sister relationship economically abused the above name victim.

The particular offense state that sometimes in 2001 the victim Cecilia Massaquoi entrusted the original copies of land documents in respect of 4 town plots of land situated at Lumley Freetown to Rev. David Dawn Massaquoi for the purpose of re-surveying the said land, but  he later failed to deliver the document of the said property to the owner, Cecilia Massaquoi.

The Lawyer for both accused persons Lawyer A.B Moissa made an application for bail for the two accused persons. The Lawyer said both accused persons are resident in Freetown and are ordinary citizens. He continued to say that the accused persons will avail themselves whenever the court needs them. He said bail is however at the discretion of the Magistrate. The Magistrate granted the bail to the accused persons.

The State Prosecutor prosecuting the case is Inspector Kumba and A.B. Moissa Esq representing both accused persons. The matter has been adjourned to the 12th April, 2021.
