The Western Area Urban District Football Association (WAFA) on 14th June 2023 elected new Executive members at the Brima Attougia Stadium. The elected Executive will serve for the next five years.
A total of Fifteen delegates from fifteen local Clubs voted for their respected Executive members to lead them for the years ahead. Seven positions were filled with new members.
Alhaji Abdul Rahman Davies was voted as Chairman and secured all delegate votes cast in the elections. He was voted due to trust and transparency, the credibility he has demonstrated over the years, which inspired delegates to vote for him again as their chairman.
Alhaji Abdul Rahman Davies, while talking to Journalists said there is going to be new transformation and massive restructuring within the Western Area Urban Football Association, noting there are a lot of things that need to be put in place; WAFA is one of the biggest regions in Sierra Leone and a breeding ground for Football players in the Country.
He further that the Western Area Urban District Football Association is going to be in charge of the Division Two leagues and also with the mandate to organize mini-leagues across Freetown Municipality, adding that the Western Area Urban is going to work with the parent body and seeking funds to other corporate institutions to help organize leagues across all level.
The newly elected Vice Chairman Musa Pokuwa was voted soundly in the elections; while talking to Journalists after the elections said he is ready to work with the Chairman for Better Football Development within the Western Area Urban and ready to transform Football in the region.
The Financial position went to Santos Sesay and the female Rep- Haja Umu Hassan King who is the owner of Kings Parks Rangers. The Ex-Officio 1 position went to Abu Bakarr Kamara, the Ex-Officio 2 went to Zainu Mansaray and Ex-Officio 3 Samurah Sanu.
The Elections were observed by the Sierra Leone Football Association.
