Sheku Mbaimba a Masoner made his first appearance before Magistrate Peter Brima Gogra of Pademba road court No.6 in Freetown on three counts of charges of Assault on police contrary to section 39 of the Police Act No.7 of 1964, Wounding contrary to Section 20 of the offences against the person Act 1861 and Assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to section 47 of the offences against the person Act 1861.
According to the particulars of the offence on Sunday 21st May 2023 at Lakka Village the western area in Freetown assaulted Deputy Superintendent of Police Aruna Kamara whilst in the due execution of his lawful duties; on count two on the same date and place the accused person maliciously wounded and assaulted Deputy Superintendent of police Aruna Kamara in a manner thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused person, he pleaded guilty to each count charged.
The prosecutor told the bench that fact as charge there are no available records against the accused person.
The accused person pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy on his behalf because he wasn’t represented by a legal representative.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Gogra sentenced the accused person to six months imprisonment at the male correctional centre in Freetown, while police constable 17228 J.B Sannoh prosecuted the matter.
