During the launch of the Sierra Leone People’s Party Campaign at the Bonthe District level, the Deputy Speaker of the Fifth Parliament Hon. Solomon Segepoh Thomas, received hundreds of new converts from the APC in support and endorsement of President Bio’s re-election in the June 24th elections.
In his address to his people, the Deputy Speaker of the Fifth Parliament Hon. Solomon Segepoh Thomas, told the people of Bonthe that President Bio has been the best President ever in the modern history of Sierra Leone. He reminded the people of the many developments President Bio had done for Bonthe which include an uninterrupted electricity supply, water supply, and ongoing road construction projects among others.
He called on his people that with the launch of the district campaign, they should not allow a single vote for APC. He also reminded them of President Bio’s Free Quality Education and the impact it had had on the people of Bonthe Island.
He intimated that plans are in the advanced stage for development partners to transform Bonthe Island. He said the essence of politics is to develop the people and to bring development to the Island. He indicated that President Bio is a visionary leader for Sierra Leone. He said no President would develop Bonthe District other than President Bio. He called on all to reach out to all those sitting on the fence to see reasons to re-elect President Bio.
Speaking at the gathering, the constituency Chairman Thomas Kpana expressed thanks and appreciation to the people for coming out in large numbers to join the Deputy Speaker for the launch of the SLPP campaign at the District Level.
He intimated that the gathering was premised on the just concluded launch of the SLPP manifesto by President Bio in Kenema which focuses on food security, Education, infrastructure, and Human capital development among others. He added that they exclusively went with the Deputy Speaker of the Fifth Parliament in order to formally inform the people about the 2023 People’s Manifesto and to also launch the SLPP Campaign at the district level. He welcomed all those who came forward to declare for the SLPP and endorse President Bio’s re-election.
While the Youth Chairman Foday B. Kpaka, said the Young Generation wing is very important to the SLPP, and that they had been doing tremendously well in terms of staging programs which are geared towards improving the lives of youths in the district.
He added that they have also launched a strategy as to how they could support the party towards president Bio’s re-election without run-off. He also commended the Deputy Speaker for the launch of the SLPP campaign at Bonthe District.
Making his declaration statement, the former District Chairman under ticket of APC Mohamed Lamin Joe, said he felt so elated to have returned home which is the SLPP. He said the SLPP is indeed a progressive party which gave him the urge to openly disown the APC. He assured that he is ready to work with the Deputy Speaker and other SLPP members for the common progress of the district.
He equally called on all and sundry to come together and fight the common enemy which is his former party the APC. He said they (the new converts) would have the greatest regret if President Bio lost the June 24th election which is the more reason, he called on all ‘Bonthinians’ and beyond to have formidable team for President Bio’s re-election.
Foday Bangura who was one of APC strong members also declared his support for the SLPP and also assured the Deputy Speaker that APC would not have more than three votes in the entire Bonthe District.
The district women’s Leader Sallay Passie, expressed thanks and appreciation to Deputy Speaker for the launch of the campaign in the district. She added that the women are in their vim and vigor to vote president Bio massively for the 30% quota. She added that President Bio had given dignity to women across the country with endless protections and provisions.
While Haja Ahmed Betty Conteh, said if the constitution could permit them, Bonthe Island would vote for President Bio for ten terms in office due to the good work he has had done for them in the Island.
She said the people of Bonthe Island are not ungrateful adding that, they are going to manifest that in the June 24th 2023 elections. She encouraged all the women to make President Bio’s re-election as a matter of urgency and alacrity. She called on all the SLPP Party supporters to welcome all the new converts from the APC with open heart.
The gathering was climaxed with cultural performances and jubilations in the district.
