Alfred Turay, Sheriff Vandi and Alimatu Turay were yesterday arraigned before Magistrate Mark Ngeba of Pademba court No 1 as police alleged that they were found cultivating 262.4 kilograms of cannabis sativa.
The accused were standing trial on two counts charges of conspiracy to commit an offence and cultivation of cannabis sativa contrary to section 7 (a) of the national drugs control act of 2008.
The charge sheet states that the accused on a date between 1 November 2022 and 4 May 2023 at Kobba Town conspired together to cultivate cannabis sativa without lawful authority.
The charge sheet furthered that the accused on the same day cultivated cannabis sativa weighing 262.4 kilograms without lawful authority.
Shortly after the charges were read and explain to the accused they pleaded not guilty of the offense.
The prosecutor ASP Christina Davis Cole sought for a date that the witness are absent in court.
The accused were remanded in custody until 26th May 2023 for hearing.
