Female police personnel at the Operations Support Division Headquarters, King Harman Road, Freetown, on Saturday 13th May 2023 benefited from another awareness-raising sensitization conducted by members of the Sierra Leone Police Female Leaders Association (SLPFLA).

Stating the purpose of the visit, CSP Jenevieve Tity Cowan disclosed that the creation of SLFLA is to identify, mentor, and encourage women to develop themselves by taking leadership roles and stop being left behind. She urged all female personnel to fully embrace this opportunity as the IGP is ready to support women with substance in attaining their goals.

In her words of encouragement, the Vice President of SLPFLA Supt. Fatmata Kanko Kamara, who is presently doing her second Ph.D. at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, narrated that she started her academic journey with barely an ‘O’ level. She therefore encouraged female personnel to empower themselves with skill training and educational development. She concluded by urging personnel to always be vigilant, respectful, and professional especially before, during, and after the country’s general elections.

Several speakers thanked the team for inspiring them that it is never too late to empower oneself with skills or academic prowess. But they pleaded for similar meetings to be held wherein both GD and OSD personnel will be addressed to strengthen the bond as there is only one SLP.
