Lamin Bangura a Police Inspector attached at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Lumley Police Station on Friday 26th March 2021 testified before Magistrate Isata Sellu Tucker of Court No.2 Pademba road Freetown on a conspiracy and robbery case against the against one Ibrahim Conteh alias ‘Betteh man.’
In his testimony he said, on the 3rd of January 2021, he received an enquiry file from Lungi to continue the Investigation, and said that the files contained statements of complainants James Kimbi, and Mohamed Koroma and other witnesses with the medical request form.
On the 25th January 2021, according to the Police witness, he and detective Inspector Jimmy Kangie contemporaneous obtained voluntary caution statement from the accused person and he issued Police Medical Request Form.
On the 1st February 2021, himself and Detective Inspector Jimmy Kangie, charged the accused with the offences of conspiracy, robbery, larceny and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
At the end of the testimony, Magistrate Tucker asked the accused if he has questions to ask the witness as he did not have a lawyer to represent him. The accused Ibrahim Conteh alias ‘Betteh man’ said no.
The accused Ibrahim Conteh alias Betteh man is standing before Magistrate Isata Sellu Tucker on four counts ranging from conspiracy, robbery, larceny and assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
On count 1 of conspiracy, the accused Ibrahim Conteh alias Betteh man together with other person’s unknown on Sunday 17th January 2021, at Comfort Bridge, Peninsula Road, Freetown, conspired together to commit a felony robbery with aggravation.
Count 2 state that, the accused on Sunday 17th January 2021, at Comfort Bridge, Peninsula Road, Freetown, being armed with cutlass robbed Mohamed Koroma of one assorted color Spark 4 Techno mobile phone valued one million one hundred thousand Leones, property of Mohamed Koroma.
Count 3 states that the accused on Sunday 17th February 2021, at Comfort Bridge, Peninsula Road Freetown, did steal 42 iron rods 5/8 inches length value three million two hundred thousand Leones, property of James Kimbi student of Milton Margai. The accused, on the same date and location, allegedly assaulted Mohamed Koroma, an electrician by profession.
Matter has been adjourned to the 6th April 2021.
