Leone Stars of Sierra Leone has on Saturday settled to a goalless draw with the Crocodile of Lesotho at the Maseru Stadium in the 2021 Afcon qualifiers.
Leone Stars of Sierra Leone hope to have secured a win away but the host nation were firm to deny them the all three points. Sierra Leone were a dominant force in the first half of play, but the Crocodile of Lesotho resisted any chance to put the ball at back of the net.
In the second half of play Lesotho showed signs that suggested they had shaken off their first half rust. Their striker held on to a good pass with his back against the Leone Stars goal but could cool not translate the dazzling move into a goal.
At the opposite end, Leone Stars of Sierra Leone got a chance, with Kei Kamara one of the experienced striker flashing a spectacular shot that could not find their opponent goal.
As things stands, group L Sierra Leone have 4 points after five games played while Lesotho have 3 three points, the super Eagles of Nigeria currently top the group with 8 points and the squirrels of Benin have 7 points, the two will meet later in Benin in a tight contest.
Leone Stars of Sierra Leone chances of qualifying is very slim as they need to beat the squirrels of Benin in Freetown on Tuesday by at least 2 goals without replay and hope and pray Nigeria defeats Benin.
