The Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) has over the weekend held its annual Sport meet after 13 years. The Annual Sports meet was held at the Havelock grounds at Kortright Fourah Bay College under the distinguished Patronage of Dr. Walton E. Gilpin the Managing Director of Rokel Commercial Bank.
Professor Mirian Conteh Morgan the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the Institute of Public Administration and Management while addressing the Students said the day is exciting not only to the Students but to the administration as it has taken (13) year’s the College has not held a sports meet for its Students and the day is remarkable to the authorities seeing students gathered in numbers to be part of the Sport meet.
She affirmed this when she took up Office last year in October.
She sets up the DVC agenda which is (IPAM) the P- is to promote Students’ enrichment activities so that by the time they leave College the Students will not only be intellectually prepared but morally, Socially, Culturally ready to lead this nation to lead the Sub-region noting that the sport meet is part of the enrichment of the College and the students are not going to wait for another (13) years and in few years ahead the next sport are going to be held at the Bureh Town Campus and by God grace it going to be an annual events.
“Competitions must be healthy for everybody to want to win and but not everybody will win she said to the Students ahead of the start of the Sport meet.”
Fours Halls took part in the Sport meet namely
1. Edward Cooper Hall ( Purple)
2. May Park Hall (Blue )
3. Nat Wellington Hall (Yellow)
4. Kwame Adjei Hall ( Orange)
Edward Copper Hall Purple takes the first position with 232 points.
The second position went to Map Park Hall with 165 points (Blue)
The Third position went to Nat Wellington Hall with 140 points( Yellow)
The four Positions went to Kwame Adjel Hall scored 124 points declared as the best behavior Hall ( Orange)
Edward Cooper Hall snatch most of the awards winning the Male Championship, and the fastest male and Female athlete in the (100) meters won (the 4×200) men’s relay and Women’s the (4×400) Women’s.
May Park Hall won the (4×400) men’s, and Kwame Adjei Hall won the best behavior hall throughout the Sport meet.
Nancy Nyallay female athlete representing Edward Cooper Hall won the 100 meters, talking to A-Z Newspaper said the feeling is great winning the one Hundred meters I have been dreaming of it and I trained for it and am not surprised to win it.
She forwarded that “I aim to represent Sierra Leone in the upcoming Olympics Games in France and I have been working on my timing in track to keep fit for the international Assignment.”
IPAM Sport spots new talents and new records were set as the excitement from Students.
