The investigator on the matter between the inspector general of Police and Mustapha Gbanki and Amidu Sesay has informed the court that they have the third suspect in custody that they are intending to charge.

Mustapha Gbanki and Amidu Sesay are before magistrate Sahr Kekura of Ross Road court No.1 for conspiracy and larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.

It was alleged on count one that on Saturday 18th March 2023, at Limba Corner, Waterloo Masiaka Highway, both accused persons conspired together with other persons unknown to commit felony to wit larceny.

On count two, it was also alleged that on the same date and place, the first accused Mustapha Gbanki did steal from the vehicle with registration number ASV 124 one thousand, one hundred and ninety-eight kilograms valued eighteen thousand, seven hundred and twenty new Leones’s property of pee cee and sons whilst in the custody of Global Logistics Solution Transport Division.

In count two, the police also alleged that on the same date and place, the second accused Amidu Sesay did steal from the vehicle with registration number ATR 310 one thousand, two hundred forty-seven even kilograms of flour valued ninety thousand five hundred new Leones, property of Pee Cee and Sons whilst in the custody of Global Logistics Solution Transport Division.

On the date the matter was charged to court, the General Manager of Global Logistics Solution Transport Division, Osman Dixson Kargbo narrated in Court how two of his employees stole stuff kept at his warehouse.

Led by prosecutor Assistant Superintendent of Police Osman Mohamed Bangura, the complainant recognized both accused persons in the dock as trailer drivers of the company.

The complainant said on Saturday 18th March 2023, he was at home when he got a call from the warehouse at Cline Town instructing him to go there.

He said upon arrival, the manager at the warehouse showed him some sets of flour bags they started offloading and said they don’t reach fifty kilograms as expected.

The complainant said he instructed the warehouse manager to check vehicle number ASV 124 which was driven by the first accused Mustapha Gbanki and weighed the said stuff which is not up to fifty kilograms.

Explaining further complainant said he told the warehouse manager to continue offloading the items and sorted out those he thought are not up to fifty kilograms and put them aside.

Complainant said an hour later the warehouse manager informed him that he got the same issue with another trailer with registration number ATR 310.

Upon reaching that point, the Bench advised the prosecutor to come with the warehouse manager.

Shortly after the matter was mentioned yesterday for further hearings, the investigator informed the Bench that they have one suspect in custody who is under investigation and will probably be charged to court. He said they are planning to consolidate the file.

In that light magistrate, Sahr Kekura said the police have to withdraw the file in court and obtain statements from all three accused persons who may be, will be charged with conspiracy.
