The newly-promoted Iceland Deild 2 side UMF Sindri has rewarded the sublime Sierra Leone midfielder Ibrahim Sorie Barrie with a new two-year contract following his impressive performance in the previous season.
Ibrahim Sorie Barrie played a vital role in UMF Sindri’s triumph last season with a total of sixteen direct goal involvement in the Iceland Deild 3 league scoring six and providing ten assists and his side emerged as champions with 47 points in twenty-two matches played which earned them promotion into the Deild 2.
Barrie is a former skipper of both the Sierra Leone home-based team and the top-flight side FC Johansen helping the “Dream Chasers” to win the 2016 Leocem FA Cup following a 1-0 victory at the Makeni Wusum field over RSLAF which is now a division one side.
During an interview with NewsFeed Sierra Leone Ibrahim Sorie Barrie expressed excitement to have penned down a new contract with the club which he described as an inspiration of the hard work he has been doing “It means my effort is not going in-vain and it means a lot to me” he intimated.
Meanwhile, UMF Sindri has progressed to the next round of the Icelandic Men’s Football League Cup following a 4-3 extra-time win on Saturday over Hottur/ Huggin and the Deild 2 league season is scheduled to commence in May.
