Notorious Criminal Behind Bars

The presiding Magistrate of Ross Road Court No.1, Sahr Kekura has ordered the correctional officers mandated to bring the accused in court to take one Joshua Mohamed Koroma back to prison after learning that he was a notorious criminal.

Joshua Mohamed Koroma is before the court on one count charge of burglary and larceny contrary to section 25(1) and 13(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

It was alleged that on Sunday 5th March 2023, at Kasama Street, Calaba Town, with intent to steal broke into the dwelling house of complainant Isha Sesay and steal one iPhone 13 valued at ten thousand Leones.

The accused on the above-mentioned case file C/S 684/2023 has been in court on four adjournment dates.

An abstract report in the police file was that at about nine in the morning, complainant Isha Sesay of the above address arrested and brought in the accused Joshua Mohamed Koroma and reported a case of burglary and larceny.

The police said upon receiving the report, the suspect was placed in a police cell, and they obtained cautioned statements from the complainant and her witnesses.

The accused twenty years old Joshua Mohamed Koroma, during a police investigation said he was a pupil and had no relationship with the complainant.

The accused also denied the allegation of theft when confronted by the police during the investigation.

As soon as the matter was mentioned, Magistrate Sahr Kekura said since the matter was charged to court the body has come to prosecute the accused.

The prosecutor Sergeant Turay M and the correctional officers informed the Bench that the accused is a customer of the court.

challenging the police and the prison officer, the accused said they are what they are alleging is not true. He said he is in court because he was not able to secure bail.

Having heard on both sides, Magistrate Sahr Kekura adjourned the matter to the 10th of April 2023. As he was about to be taken to the prison lockup, the accused apologized to the prosecutor and begged the Bench to tamper justice with mercy.
