An elderly man Abdul Sesay, who was alleged to have been wounded by two accused persons before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Ross Road Court No.1 has confirmed the incident during cross-examination. The complainant is before the court for redress after he was chopped with a machete by his neighbours
The two accused persons, Abdul Sankoh and Sulaiman Bangura are charged with wounding with intent and wounding contrary to section 20 of the offences against the person’s Act of 1816.
It was alleged on count one on the police file that on Saturday 20th November 2022, in New York, in the Waterloo judicial district, the accused Abu Sankoh alias Delta and Sulaiman Bangura wounded with intent complainant Abdul Sesay with intent to disfigure him.
On count two, it was alleged that on the same date and place, the accused persons maliciously wounded the complainant.
Cross-examined by defence counsel A.S Sesay, the complainant said after the incident, he reported to the police that he sustained head and foot injuries.
The complainant said after making the report, he was issued a police medical request form which he took to Connaught Hospital for examinations and treatment.
In a question directed to him, the complainant said an X-ray was done on his head and foot to determine the effect of the injuries he sustained.
Defense counsel had wanted to confront the complainant on the x-ray report, but the prosecutor Assistant Superintendent of Police Osman Mohamed Bangura raised an objection saying the complainant is not the one who prepared it.
The objection of the prosecutor was sustained by Magistrate Sahr Kekura who advised the defence counsel to wait for the evidence of the doctor who prepared the same.
Cross-examined further, the complainant said he cannot recall the date he was asked to go and do the x-ray.
On reaching that point, the defence counsel requested a stand down for further cross-examination.
Few minutes after, the complainant told the court in further cross-examination that as soon as the first accused saw him, he rushed and chopped him.
After cross-examination Magistrate Sahr Kekura adjourned the matter to the 13th of April, 2023.
