One of the most vibrant political parties in the mid-90s, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has endorsed the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) for reelection alongside the leading Mayoral aspirant, Mohamed Gento Kamara for the Freetown City Council under the SLPP ticket.
The Deputy Secretary General of the party, who is also running for a seat in Council, Saidu Kargbo hinted this medium that pretty soon, their Chairman, Prince Coker will announce the party’s desire to endorse the ruling party for a work-well-done during these five years alongside the candidature of Gento whom, he said, the PDP believes will deliver what Freetonians have been looking for in terms of the development of the capital city.
According to him, PDP Sorbeh has been studying the political climate for the past years with the conclusion that they have to toe the line of the SLPP for sustainable development of the country.
He said President Bio made no mistake endorsing Gento adding that their party will rally their supporters to cast their votes for the two Gentlemen on June 24.
He said the party is going to send candidates for Presidential and Local Councils but not for the Mayoral seat. ” We are contesting for some seats in the Local Councils”, Saidu blasted, noting that when the time comes for the campaign the party is set to catapult its message of peace and continuity throughout the length and breadth of the country.
Saidu Kargbo described the first day of the distribution of voters’ identity cards on Friday 7th April as a smooth process. He said the party is going to monitor the entire process to ensure that process continues to go on smoothly without hindrance.
Saidu Kargbo, who doubles as the Secretary General of Productive Women Sierra Leone has called on women to support the party to get some seats. He revealed that he is going to stand for a seat in Council to represent (Ward 404) in the urban district which he said had been misrepresented a lot.
