Freetown Mayor`s Obstruction Case: Defense Counsel Closes Submission

The Lead Defense Counsel Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara Esq. on Monday 3rd April, 2023 closed its case for the alleged obstruction matter involving the former Mayor of Freetown City Council (FCC, Yvonne Aki Sawyer.

The accused Aki Sawyer has been under trial before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of the Pademba Road Court No.1 for the offence of obstruction of Police duty and disorderly behavior which she allegedly committed at the airport Police division at Lungi.

Shortly after the matter was mentioned, Lead Defense Counsel Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara Esq informed the court that they had closed their case, noting that they relied on the evidence they have presented.

The learned Lawyer sought from the Bench for a three weeks adjournment for him to submit a written case and oral submission of the Defense.

Magistrate Ngegba ordered the Defense to serve the court and the Prosecution its case submission not later than the 17th April, while the Prosecution should reply theirs not later than the 28th April, 2023.

The matter was adjourned the 2nd May, 2023.
