The Sierra Leone Football Association with support from UEFA Assist has on 5th April 2023 commenced a three-day seminar for coaches, referees, journalists, and administrators on female football development.
The three days work training taking place at the Atlantic Lumley Hotel in Freetown and will aim at the administration, technical, and marketing of women’s football in Sierra Leone.
Making his statement during the opening Ibrahim Bah the Technical director of the Sierra Leone Football Association the training is pivotal for the Women’s Football Development in the Country, noting the environment is key and involving a long time development and needs support from the Football Stakeholders to come together and it needs commitment for it to be achieved.
He affirmed that for the Women’s game succeed it needs dedication, Perseverance, stability, and three words pivotal Equality, Diversity, and inclusion should be key areas in the Women’s game.
Mohamed Benson Bawoh the Deputy Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Football Association making his statement on behalf of the Football Federation said this all started three years ago when Madam Ever Psquire was in Sierra Leone a few years back when the lectures the Football Federation many programs, noting that the Football Association has embarked many development works which are key steps insuring that progressed made in Football in the Country.
He affirmed that since the UEFA Assist Program in Sierra Leone, the Country has successfully organized Youth Football for under 15 categories, and equally so the Federation has engaged the Youth Category of the National teams such as the U-17, 20, and National teams both male and female. noting that for the first time, the Football Federation has been able to successfully organize the first time female Premier League across the Country the first ever and there are plans from the Football Association to engage them in the Confederation of Africa Football Continental (CAF) the Champions League and there are plans the Competition department to organized under 15 and 16 Competitions for Youth players in the Country.
He further that the Football Federation is aware of the Prevailing challenges of Women’s games game butgamesre are huge plans to manage both to a professional level.
Mohamed Benson Bawoh called on the Participants to take the work with all seriousness it deserved to enable empower their technical know-how in Football, and Present in the workshop was the Director of Competitions Sorie Ibrahim Sesay, Abu Bakarr Kamara the head of event and Protocol at the SLFA, Mohamed Bowen Freeman, Ibrahim Kamara the head media Lamin Tarawallie, and Alusine Kabba.
A few months back Sierra Leone Football Association with UEFA Assist Support held a similar workshop for the (18) Premier League clubs on Capacity training to empower them in the administration of their Various clubs in areas of Football Governance and leadership.
