Independent Politicians Declare Unconditional Support For President Bio

A Member of Parliament and three Ward Councillors in Pujehun District have openly declared their unconditional support for the re-election of President Dr. Julius Maada Bio at the presidential polls slated for 24th June 2023.

The Independent MP, Hon Saka Musa Sama said he and the three Councillors have vowed to support President Bio because of their conviction that the President will deliver more if given a second chance to lead the country. He spoke 

after consulting with his constituents, he concluded that he would remain an independent candidate and support the President to win the election hands down. 

He said Dr. Julius Maada Bio is the only presidential aspirant that asked for his support, adding that since he needs their support, they have decided to give him their unconditional support so that he emerges victorious at the poll, come June 24.

He narrated that he has been an ally of the Bio-led administration simply because of the good laws passed by the second arm of government and his impressive style of leadership since he assumed office and came into power in 2018.

The declaration ceremony was graced by thousands of people including stakeholders of the Southern Region and the Leader of Government Business in Parliament, Hon. Martin Newman who described the decision of the independent politicians as a clear manifestation that the President is inclusive. 

It could be recalled that Hon. Sama had been an MP under the People’s Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) for one term. After the 2012 election, he paid more attention to land rights advocacy against SOCFIN which is a multilateral foreign-owned company operating on thousands of hectares of land in Sahr Malen Chiefdoms. Pujehun District.  He was subsequently detained because he incited youths to destroy the palm plantations of the company.
