ChernorMamadu Bah made another appearance to magistrate Mark Ngeba of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown as he was alledgedto have obtained $300 from Kadiatu Kamara that he will facilitate her travel from Sierra Leone to Canada knowing same to be false.

Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai led the first prosecution witness (PW1) corporal 12057 Brima Koroma attach to the anti-fraud unit CID HQ said he recognized the accused and also know the complainant Kadiatu Kamara.

He recall on 4th June 2022, adding that he was on duty when the complainant call him on his cell phone requesting to meet her at the back of the girls’ school informing him that the accused had been arrested.

The witness said he left the police station with other police officers and they went to the scene.

He further that at the scene he arrested the accused and brought him to the station where the statement was obtained from the complainant and her witnesses.

He further that from the 4th to the 6th of June 2022, he obtained a voluntary caution statement from the accused person by observing the judge’s rules.

The caution statements of the accused were tender in court as exhibit C1- 1.

He said on 10th June 2022, he charged the accused with the offences of conspiracy and obtaining money by pretences.

The charge statement was also tender as exhibit D1-3.

The accused pleaded with the court to wait on his lawyer to cross examined on his behalf on the next adjourned date.

The accused is on bail and the matter was adjourned to 10th April 2023.

The accused is before the court on two counts charges of conspiracy to defraud contrary to law and obtaining money by pretences contrary to section 32 (1) of the larceny act of 1916.

The charge sheet indicated that the accused between 1 and 20 September 2021 at Sackville street in Freetown conspired together with another person unknown to commit a felony to wit obtaining money by pretences.

The charge sheet further that the accused on the same day obtained three thousand dollars equivalent to thirty-nine million six hundred thousand Leones from Kadiatu Kamara by falsely pretending that he will facilitate her travelling from Sierra Leone to Canada knowing the same to be false.
