32 yrs-old Former Police officer, Corporal 17589 Alimamy Fofanah was on Wednesday 22nd March 2023 sent back to prison for allegedly killing 25years old Yayah Jalloh.

The accused Alimamy Fofanah is standing trial before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of the Pademba Road Court No.1 for one count offence of murder contrary to law.

According to the particulars of offence, on Wednesday 1st February 2023 at Bassa town Waterloo, the accused unlawfully murdered Yayah Jalloh.

In his testimony, first prosecution witness (PW1) Ramatulai Kargbo said on that fateful night she went to attend Tangains at Bassa town field, Waterloo, adding that when she arrived there, she came across Yayah Jalloh now deceased and introduced the accused to him as his boss.

Upon that, the accused bought drinks for her and whilst there, he saw a gun at the side of the accused and about 3 am, the accused told Yayah to escort him somewhere but she decided to go with them, and upon arriving at a certain place, the accused threatened to shoot without naming any person who he intends to shoot.

“We pleaded with him not to carry out the act, and I have to hide behind Yayah”

the witness told the court.

She furthered that she went to call people and when she was going, she heard the sound of a gunshot when she returned to the scene, she did not see the accused but met Yayah lying on the ground while blood was oozing from him, and he was rushed to the hospital, adding that until later when she was called at the Waterloo Police division, she came to know that Yayah has died.

Defence Counsel JM Gengo was absent and the matter was adjourned to Wednesday 29th March 2023 for cross-examination.
