Prosecution witness number four Detective police Constable 18653 Raymond David Campbell attached to the Criminal Investigation Department Ross Road Police station in Freetown has explained how he investigated two alleged thieves.
The accused persons Abdula Karim Sesay and Thaimu Bangura are before magistrate Sahr Kekura of Ross Road Court No.1 on two count charges of house breaking and larceny and receving stolen goods contrary to section 33(I) of the Larceny Act of 1816.
It was alleged on count one that on Thursday 17th November 2022, at No.22E Mount Aureol Tarrace in Freetown, the first accused break and entered into the dwelling house if complainant Mabel Tholly and stole properties worth thirty four thousand, nine hundred and ninety eight Leones ( 34, 998) .
On count two, the police alleged that second accused Thaimu Bangura received the said properties stolen by first accused Abdul Karim Sesay.
On their first appearance, second accused was granted bail whiles first accused was ordered to be remanded at the male correctional facility.
Shortly after the matter was mentioned for further hearings, the witness recognized both accused persons and complainant Mabel Tholly in respect of this matter.
He said on Thursday 17th November 2022, he was on duty at the aforementioned station when complainant arrived and made a report of house breaking.
He said upon receiving the report, the matter was assigned to him for investigation. The witness said he obtained statements from complainant and her witnesses.
He said the second accused was brought to the station by one police officer with exhibits. Upon reaching that point magistrate Sahr Kekura advised the prosecutor to take a date in other for him to have proper conference as he is struggling in giving evidence.
Before the date magistrate Sahr Kekura granted first accused bail and adjourned the matter to the 24th of March 2023.
