The family Support Unit Line Manager at the Motema Police Divisional Headquarters in Nimikoro chiefdom, Kono District Assistant Superintendent of police Sahr Samuel Jimmy, has told this medium that wife battery and other domestic related offences are on the increase in that part of the country.
According to him, sexual penetration of under age girls, child neglect and wife battery are among cases normally reported at the family support unit of the Motema police divisional headquarters in Nimikoro chiefdom Kono district. ASP Jimmy further expressed his dismay over the way and manner complainants of the aforementioned crimes or offences usually strike compromise during investigation.
He edified that when matters of such are officially reported at his unit, during investigation complainants do call for redress with an appeal to pity that the perpetrators are their husbands and bread winners.
The Motema FSU Line manager further maintained that many a times complainants do remark that they only report their husbands for corrective measures and not for them to be put behind bars. He considered such as a great challenge because it is impossible for them to charge empty files to court. Amid the aforementioned challenges, ASP Jimmy in no certain terms, reaffirmed that his office would leave no stone unturned in dealing with cases that are brought to his unit.
As part of their modus operandi in terms of investigation, he said they obtain statements, issuance of medical papers, and send the matters to the rainbow center for further scrutiny. The Motema FSU boss also disclosed that his office was investigating a matter that has to do with an under age pushing his colleague in an inferno at kaomaru village in Nimikoro chiefdom Kono district.
