The Deputy Director of the Sierra Leone Network on the Rights to Food (SILNORF) Organization in Makeni City, Bombali District in the Northern Province of Sierra Leone has told our correspondent that the Civil Society Officials cannot work effectively without both the electronic and print media in Kono District and Sierra Leone as a whole.
Abass Kamara made the statement when addressing at least ten (10) journalists in a two day training on the rights to food project that was organized by SILNORE in partnership with the Community Media Network (COMNET) and Welt Hunger Hilfe (WHH).
According to Mr. Kamara there is a missing link in communication between the CSO’s and the Journalists across the country, especially in Kono District.
Chairman of CSO’s in Bombali District said they are working tremendously with Journalists in Makeni in order to bring peace, transparency, accountability, development and justice to the people of Makeni.
He made mention of the incident that took place sometime last year in Makeni during the generator saga wherein it was alleged that residents of Makeni waged attack on government officials not to have taken the generator from Makeni to Lungi in the Port Loko District.
He maintained that they were expecting the CSO’s in Kono to do likewise in order to maintain peace especially on the issue that has to do with crop and cattle rearers, among other burning issues creating contentions.
