Overseas Travelling Fraudster Dragged To Court

One Ahmed Rashid Kamara was yesterday  28th February 2023, dragged to court before Magistrate Ngegba after he was charged on three counts of Conspiracy to commit a crime contrary to Law and Obtaining money by pretenses contrary to section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, the accused on diverse dates between 20th September 2022, and Friday 30th December 2022 at Juba Hill Freetown, allegedly conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit Obtaining money by pretenses.

In count two and three it was also alleged that with intent to defraud, the accused obtained the sum of One Thousand Two Hundred Thousand United States dollars equivalent to Twenty-Four Thousand New Leones and $ 2, 000 equivalent to Four Thousand New Leones respectively from one Ibrahim Jalloh by falsely pretending that he will facilitate the travelling of his younger brother one Alhassan Jalloh to Brazil, knowing same to be false.

At this stage, after the matter was mentioned and the charges put against the accused person, police Prosecutor 15152 H.B Turay applied for an adjournment as his witness was absent and couldn’t reach him, while the defense counsel K.T Dauda applied for bail for his client; which was granted.

The accused was however granted bail in the sum NLe 100 and the matter adjourned to 17th March 2023.
