Justice Amy Wright presiding at the High Court in Freetown has yesterday remanded 38 years old Moses Mansaray for unlawfully killing one Sulaiman Jalloh (now deceased).

The accused is currently in court on one count of manslaughter contrary to the Laws of Sierra Leone.

According to state counsel, E. Kabbie, the accused on Wednesday 30th January 2019 in Freetown unlawfully killed Sulaiman Jalloh.

After the charge was read and explained to the accused, he pleaded not guilty to the offence charged.

Leading her first prosecution witness in respect of the matter, Chief Inspector Brima Sama said he attached to the law officers department as a process server.

He added that on the 23rd of September 2019, he was on duty at the said office when he received a subpoena from state counsel E. Kabbie to serve witness Wilfred Kamara who stays at Kola Farm for her to testify in respect of the matter.

He told the court that upon his arrival at Kola farm, he was directed to the house of the witness but upon his arrival at the house one of the residences told him that the witness is now deceased.

The witness added that based on the information, he returned to the office and informed the state counsel.

He said the said document has since been in his custody which was signed and dated by the Master and registrar of the High Court which he later tendered in court.

Also testifying in respect of the matter, Sergeant 85787 Alimamy Abu Kamara who attached to the exhibit officer, Kissy police station said he recalled on 28th February 2019.

He said that he was on duty at the said office when Detective Police Constable 14969 Kamara M.M handed over to him one long 35cm chain and a padlock attached to it, one long flower cable as an exhibit for safe keeping which he recorded as RCE30/2019.

He further informed the court that he tendered those exhibits at the Ross Road Magistrate Court No.1 on the 27th of June 2019.

During cross-examination by Lawyer I. Bangura from the Legal Aid Board on behalf of the accused person, the witness said the exhibits he made mentioned were not in the High Court because they cannot be found in the exhibit store at Ross Road Magistrate Court.

However, Justice Wright remanded the accused and adjourned the matter to Tuesday 14th March 2023 for further hearing.
