As part of the 50th Anniversary Sierra Leone Commercial Bank has on 25th February 2023 kick-off Gala Competition at the Police Field in Kingston.
Sierra Leone Commercial Bank Football team Kickoff the first match as they lock horns with Union Trust Bank both teams look bright in the first half, but Union Trust Bank took the lead in the early part of the first half of play, as the player in 10 Jersey converted a loose ball in the 18 yards to take the lead.
Alhassan Koroma got the equalizing goal deep in the first half to level the terms for the Sierra Leone Commercials Banks, the first half settled for 1-1 all at the Police field.
During the first half of the play, Sierra Leone Commercial Bank got several chances but failed to convert any of those chances into the net of the opponent team; they were clinical in front of the goal which affected their game plan.
Union Trust Bank, after conceding a goal in the first half, they were not attack-minded again in the second half getting chances but failing to convert any of its chances into goals.
The match ended (1-1) all full-time played and headed straight to the post-game Penalties shout-out Union Trust Bank won the Post Penalties by five goals to four ( 4-3) as the Goalkeeper of Union Trust Bank had to make two saves as that help his sides to progress to the Finals. And according to the competition formats it knocks out bases as Union Trust Banks process to the grand finals.
The second match was between the Rokel Commercial Bank Football team and Eco Bank Football team, both teams started the first half in high spirits, but both teams failed to convert any of their chances in the first half as it ended goallessly.
After the first half break, both teams return to the pitch with determination and high Spirits with their strikers creating chances on either side.
But deep into the second half, Daniel Kamara with 17 Jersey scored the only goal for Rokel Commercial Bank as they won the match and progressed to the grand finals to face Union Trust which will be played on the 4th of March 2023.
The Chief Risk Officer Baimba A. Bockarie said the Gala Competition is part of their Fifth Anniversary Celebration and they invited four Banks to be part of the Gala Competition, namely Sierra Leone Commercial Bank, Rokel Commercial Bank, Union Trust Bank, and Eco Bank, noting the essence of the Competition among the Banks is to foster Unity in the Banking industry.
He confirmed that at the end of the competition, there are Trophies for the Winner, runners-up, and third place as well, and with prices for the best player, best Goalkeeper, and player of the competition, noting that at the end they want to see follow Bankers as Friends and will be good for the Customers in the Country.
