35 years old Kadie Kargbo a business woman has been arraigned before Magistrate Peter Brima Gogra of Pademba road court No.6 in Freetown on three count charges of Wounding with intent contrary to section 18 of the offences against the person Act 1861, Wounding contrary to Section 20 of the offences against the persons Act 1861 and Assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to section 47 of the offences against the person Act 1861.
According to the particulars of offence, on Saturday 28th January 2023 Alilton Street Murray Town the western area in Freetown maliciously wounded and assaulted Mohamed Kalil Bah in a manner thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.
The charges were read and explained to the accused person, who was denied taken plea.
Led in evidence by Assistant Superintendent of police Abdul Sannoh, Prosecution witness number one Mohamed Kalil Bah a Student of IPAM recognized the accused person in the dock and he recalled on the 28th January 2023.
He said on that day, he had the privilege to attend a carnival at Milton Street and went to ease himself when someone called him from the other side.
The witness said he went to find out who called him and when he returned he bought two bottles of drink and was about to take them when the accused person came and told her that he has stepped on her drink.
The witness said he apologized and further told her that he will pay for the drink, but the accused person chased him to the gutter and told him that he didn’t ask him to pay for the drink.
He said they are there when he suddenly felt a sharp cut under his neck. He said he went to the street and he met his friend but by that time the accused person has fled.
The witnesses said he took a cloth and tied his neck and went for treatment at the 34 military hospital.
He said he was given nine stitches and when he returns home his neck was still bleeding.
He further narrated that he was also given seven stitches on his hand.
He said after treatment, a report was made on his behalf at Congo Cross police station where he was later given a police medical request form.
He said he later returned the endorsed medical request form which was produced for identification.
Counsel representing the accused person M. Gotta renewed his previous Bail application on behalf of the accused person.
Magistrate Gogra granted the accused person bail in the sum of fifty million Leones with two sureties in like sum. He said both sureties are to produce valid identity cards depicting their addresses in Freetown. He also ordered that both sureties are to be employed in a government institution in Sierra Leone and one of the surety is to be above 50yrs . The above bail is to be approved by the Bench. The matter was adjourned to the 27th February 2023 for further hearing.
