SLCB In Collaboration With Freetown Golf Club Kick-Off A Week-Long Tournament

As part of its 50th Anniversary Sierra Leone Commercial Bank in collaboration with Freetown Golf Club has on 20th February 2023 Kickoff a week-long tournament at the Freetown Golf Club grounds.

Speaking during the Official launching of the Fetus Sowah the Deputy Managing Director of Sustainable Development of Sierra Leone Commercial Bank said they feel honored to partner with the President of the Freetown Gulf Club to stage such a tournament, noting as an institution they will ensure that the tournament is a successful one in the next one week.

He called on the participants of the various categories to play hard, fear and has fun as the tournament unfound.

“Congratulations to the winners in advance and congratulations to the loser; because in such a tournament all the athletes are winners,” Sowah said.

 He noted that the package for the winners is huge and attractive and it will be a short tournament and will climax with an award night.

He affirmed that as part of its fifty years (50th) Anniversary the Bank has launched four products and more to unfold, while some of the products are, Women’s Bank products, Retirement Packages, and Children’s accounts all part of the 50th-year celebrations.

He said even though some people are predicting that the first price will be a new account with one million Leones, while for the junior category 100 Leones, new notes will be issued to them. The Deputy Managing Director said he prefers to remain silent on the prizes.

The President of Freetown Golf Club, Gibrila  Saccoh said they welcome the opportunity of exposing their athletes through this tournament organized by the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank. He said that tournament will help to prepare them for the world market and to compete amongst equals.

He affirmed that if a Federation has a sponsored competition and there are prices tied to it, it will be a good one for the professionals, as well as the Juniors Golfers.

Saccoh noted that this tournament will create space for the Junior Golfers, as well as the Veterans, and disclosed that more than 100 athletes are going to be part of the short week-long competition. He said the tournament will consist of four categories from all levels (ABCD) and with prizes from first to third place position.

Gibril Saccoh called on the Cooperative bodies to follow what Sierra Leone Commercial Banks have done as part of their Cooperative Social Responsibility by sponsoring the tournament.

” I want to thank the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank, you  made us feel very proud and we are proud to associate ourselves with your institution, and very proud to be a member of the Sierra Leone Freetown Gulf Club.”

He called on all Sierra Leoneans to come on board and watch the tournament.

The President of the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone, Prince Swalluay said Gulf is part of the Olympic Family and he is happy to see many transformations in the administration of the Gulf and that plans are on the way to bring in experts to train young Golfers.

Dr. Kenneth Brima the Executive Director of the National Sports Authority said they are pleased to have  Sierra Leone Commercial Bank with them supporting such discipline in the sporting world.

“Sierra Leone Commercial Bank is supporting the intention of the Government to bring young people to Sports,” he affirms.

While the President of Lawn Tennis, Kelvin Ezekiel Kalie said Sierra Leone Commercial Bank has always supported sports in the Country and over the years they have supported Lawn Tennis Association and called on other Cooperate bodies to come on board and support other Sporting disciplines in the Country and to support the government.
