Health Alert as a Civil Society Organization (CSO) playing leading role promoting health issues, has intensified its door to door COVID vaccines sensitization targeting the Western Rural District (WARDC).
Executive Director, Health Alert, Victor Lansana Koroma said through their survey, it discovered that the denial rate stretches from 65%-70%.
This figure speaks to residents that are still skeptical over the efficacy of the vaccines and the existence of the virus as a whole.
Victor Lansana Koroma said his organization in partnership with the District Health Medical Team (DHMT) have made in roads and influenced some change in people’s perception about the vaccines.
He informed this medium that their sensitization drive started way back before the arrival of the vaccines. He noted that they used community meetings, mega phone parades to reach the people in hard to reach communities.
Health Alert is making a clarion call for people to emulate the good example of the First Gentleman, President Bio whom he said demonstrated leadership on Monday when together with government official and opposition politicians took the jab.
He said that was a clear indication that the jab has no side effect adding that it was proven by the experts to be safe for the public.
More people will benefit from the jab on Monday when the Ministry of Health will start the nationwide vaccination targeting civil servants. The country will soon get over forty thousand doses from the African Union.
