Kelvin Ezekiel Kellie President of the Sierra Leone Tennis Association Kelvin Ezekiel Kellie accompanied by a cross-section of his executive members on February 11th , 2023 kick-off his nationwide in the Makeni Northern region.
According to President Kellie, the crux of the tours is to revive tennis in the provinces after it was greatly affected by the Corona Virus pandemic, adding before his visit to Makeni his administration support the district executive to rehabilitate the Wusum field court.
He added that the association has taken the drive to make the sports accessible to children working with various schools “catching them when they are young” including encouraging the girls to surmount the barriers that have been preventing them over the years from playing tennis.
The Sierra Leone Tennis Association President Kelvin Ezekiel Kellie also provides tennis equipment to the regional and district association and the event was centered on a series of competitions organized for different categories.
He concluded that the next stop of his nationwide tour will be in the Southern Region scheduled for next week while the major funding for all these activities is the executive committee and ended by calling on for collaborative support from all members of the association “It doesn’t mean you should only be an executive member to make the change needed, all of us should come on board and improve tennis in Sierra Leone” President Kellie ascribed.
President Kellie has over the years transformed the Sport both locally and internationally as Sierra Leone Lawn Tennis players are ranked fifth in Africa and their outing in Benin won gold medals.
