Alie Kamara and Fatmata Kamara has on the 13th February 2023, sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by Hon. Justice Suliaman Bah of the Freetown High Court No2.
The convicts pleaded guilty to the offense of murder, on their final appearance before Hon. Justice Suliaman Bah on two counts of conspiracy and murder.
It was alleged that the convicted persons on the 4th November 2021 at Freetown unlawfully killed Lovetta Turay.
Giving the fact of the matter before the convict was sentenced, state prosecutor, A.F Kamara informed the court that the date in question the convicted couples ( Fatmata and Alie Kamara and the deceased resided at the same address.
A.F Kamara said the deceased (Lovetta ) had a quarrel with the first convict (Fatmata Kamara) upon her husband arrival, Alie Kamara (second convict) then approach the deceased, both convicts and deceased person used offensive words against themselves, throwing offensive weapon at the deceased.
He told the court that the convicts fought with the deceased and that the deceased Lovetta Turay met her untimely death.
In his deference lawyer Morrison Karimu for the convicted couples said that the convicted person did not waste the court`s time but pleaded guilty to the offense.
He asked the judge to temper mercy to the convicted persons, saying they are couples with Four (4) children and should be considerate on the time spent in prison.
He said the convicted persons regret their action, and asked the judge again to temper justice with mercy.
‘’before conviction the couples pleaded for mercy and they have regretted their action’’. It was asserted by defence counsel.
In that Hon. Justice Suliaman Bah sentenced the couples to Five years for the first convict Fatmata Kamara and also five years for the second convict Alie Kamara.
