Pathologist Testifies In Kono Murder Trial

Consultant pathologist, Professor Babatunde M. Duduyemi attached to the Connaught teaching hospital has on Wednesday 8th February 2023 testified before Justice Monfred Sesay on the murder of Kai Osman Fengai which took place on the 20th April 2021 at Kono district.

He said some of his duties as pathologist include teaching of post and undergraduate students, he perform autopsy at the hospital, he did surgical pathologist among others.

Professor Duduyemi said he has been a pathologist for 21 years and he recalled on the 26th April 2021 when he performed the autopsy on the deceased, Kai Osman Fengai at the Connaught mortuary.

He said the deceased was identified by his relative Mr. Hassan Fengai.

The witness said after the autopsy he wrote a report and issued out a death certificate on the cause of death and gave the original certificate to the deceased relatives and a copy to the Sierra Leone Police.

The autopsy report was tendered in court to form part of the evidence.

Pathologist Dr. Duduyemi said the deceased body was brought to the Connaught Hospital to determine the cause of death. The witness further said the cause of death was hypovolaemic shock acute blood loss which led to stab wound to the chest and left lung.

He again said in his expert option the cause of death is unnatural. The manner and mood was Homicidal.

After the testimony of the witness, Lawyer Randy S. Bangura representing the accused persons said he did not have any questions for the witness.

The accused persons, Mohamed Johnson, Aiah Komba, Kaliliu Fofanah, Victor Kellie and Ishmail Charles were before the court on two counts of conspiracy to commit murder and murder contrary to Law.

State prosecutor, Aruna Jalloh alleged that the accused persons on divers date between the 19th April 2021 and 21st April 2021 at Koidu town, Kono district conspired with other persons unknown to commit murder.

It was further alleged that the accused persons on the 20th April 2021 at the place murdered Kai Osman Fengai.
