IGP Sellu Ends Thank You Tour In Hometown Kailahun District

In reciprocating the solidarity and support during his approval at the well of Parliament in early August 2022, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr. William Fayia Sellu has received a rousing welcome from his people in Kailahun during a thank you tour.

Thousands of residents and indigenes of Kailahun were seen line up in various villages and Chiefdom headquarter towns in the District to welcome home for the first time, one of theirs following his appointment as the country`s internal Chief Security Officer, Mr. William Fayia Sellu.

Speaking at the Barry in Koindu, Hon Egbenda Sahr Juana of Constituency 002 discloses that as indigenes of Kissydom, which comprises Kissy Tongi, Kissy Teng and Kissy Kama, they have got recognition and appointments from this government for which they should celebrate.

He also discloses that IGP Sellu speaks the Kissy language than most of them residing there, which makes him a respecter of culture and traditions.

“If he didn’t come back home to seek blessings from his people, he won’t be a happy man” said Hon Juana noting that his people have now endorsed and bless his appointment and it shall be well with him.

Several other speakers including the financial secretary, Sahr Jusu, SLPP Kailahun District Chairman, Jusu Jaka Gobeh, Hon Hindolo Moiwo Ngevao, Hon Sartie  Banya, PC Emmanuel Nyuma Ganawa the 111, of Kissy Teng Chiefdom, Regent Chief Alhaji Bandabla Kashor of Kissy Kama Chiefdom, expressed similar sentiments and prayed that God guide and protect him in his task.

In his address to his people, IGP informed that his visit to the District was for two purposes, to thank them for their solidarity and support during his approval at the well of Parliament and to assess and have firsthand information on the security status of the District.

“I was overwhelmed with the massive turnout from Kailahun District during my approval, I said to myself that it won’t end there” said the IGP, thus he was in Kailahun to thank them and have family dialogued with them.

He went on to inform them that his visit was to also assess the security standpoint moving to the general elections.

The assessment he said includes firsthand information on Police challenges, their relationships with the people and operations.

There are structures which he said guides police operations in communities, referencing the Security Sector Reform Document.

Chiefdoms especially those sharing borders with neighbouring countries IGP Sellu said should have some security committee.

He therefore called on the LUC to reactivate those structures.
