‘Jebu’ fuel dealer Aminata Kamara was on the 10th January 2023, arrested by Aberdeen Police Officers at back of Bintumani Hotel, Aberdeen in Freetown.
Aminata Kamara was caught selling petroleum products without license. She was taken to the Aberdeen Police Station where she made a statement and put on Police bail.
On Tuesday January 31st, she was charged to Court and she made her first appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Court No 1 at Pademba Road Freetown, on three counts ranging from trading in petroleum Product without license contrary to regulation 70 of the Petroleum Regulatory (Downstream Petroleum) Regulation 2016.
Storage of diesel without license contrary to Regulation 40 (1) (2) (b) of the Petroleum Regulatory Agency (Downstream Petroleum) Regulations 2016 and dealing in petroleum without license contrary to Regulation 70 of the Petroleum Regulatory Agency (Downstream Petroleum) Regulations 2016.
According to the charge sheet on count 1, the accused Aminata Kamara on Tuesday 10th January 2023, back of Bintumani Hotel Aberdeen, Freetown, traded in petroleum without license.
Count 2 charge statement indicated that the accused on the same date and place, stored 30 rubbers of diesel without license. Count 3 also stated that the accused on the same date and place traded in petroleum without license.
The charges were read and explained to the accused person but no plea was taken. Meanwhile, Magistrate Ngegba refused to grant bail and sent the accused person to the female correctional center in Freetown. ASP Ibrahim Mansaray is Prosecuting the matter. The matter was adjourned to the 1st February 2023.
