Sierra Leone Female Beach Volleyball team on 29th January 2023 won gold medals in the Regional Zone two Beach Volleyball Championship in Guinea Bissau.

The female team defeated the host Guinea Bissau in the grand finale to win the Regional Championship just like what they did in September 2022 in the Gambia. In the male category, they took the third position.

In September 2022, the Sierra Leone Beach Volleyball teams traveled via road to Guinea Bissau to represent the Country in Africa Championship.

Sierra Leone defeated the holder Guinea Bissau to clinch the Championship position in the female category, while in the U-19 Category the male squad eliminated their senior counterparts in the quarter-final, but were eliminated by the Gambia.

The Sierra Leone National men’s and Women’s beach volleyball teams have on 25th January 2023 set sail for an engagement with the rest of Zone 2 to defend their bronze and gold medals earned in their last encounter in Banjul The Gambia last December.

These championships are now a regular event within the Zone with the hope of bolstering the competitiveness of athletes whilst enhancing the performance of match officials within the zone.

Sierra Leone will field in two teams per gender:

The Male Team players

A: John Sorie Kamara will partner with the youngster, Mohamed Karim Kamara (Star Boy).

The B Team will witness a debut for the current ‘longest’ man in volleyball, MUSA Lankey Kamara from Air Force Volleyball Club in Bo partnering with Ahmed Junior Aruna who made his debut in Agadir last August at the Cup of African Nations.

The female quartet maintains gold medalists Gladys M Fofana partnering with Fatmata Binta Bah.

The B side has a duo of Bernadette Fofanah and Isatu M W Bah.

The delegation has for the first time a media man from within the federation, Mohamed Zakariya, Kamara, and a national referee accompanying the teams.

The teams are coached by Abdul Razack Kamara whilst the head of the delegation is Samuel Hinga Navo, Ag Chair of the Southern Region Volleyball Association.

Sierra Leone Volleyball Federation is one of the federations that have made the nation proud in terms of winning laurels within Africa.
