Legal Aid Board Employees Are Just Salary Receivers; They Are Not Doing Their Job-Magistrate Daboh

“I told the director of the Legal Aid Board that her employees are just salaries receivers, they’re not doing their Job,” said Magistrate Hadiru K Daboh.

 He made this statement after three accused persons has been behind bars for months without any representative from the Legal Aid Board.

Firstly, the accused person Hassan Conteh a Mechanic is standing trial on one count charge to wit Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of offence sometimes in September 2022 at Shell New Road the western area in Freetown did steal one blue digital mobile phone and one gold colour Samsung S21 mobile phone.

 All to the total value of thirteen thousand Leones (Le 13,000) property of Abubakar Sankoh.

Deputy Superintendent of police Fatmata Kuyateh is Prosecuting the matter.

In another file, the same accused person Hassan Bangura an Auto Mechanic is standing trial on a count of Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence sometimes in October 2020 at 19 Berkeley Street, Gloucester the western area in Freetown did steal from vehicle registration number AJT 739 one engine, one Trafficator light, back boot door lock and right mirror glass.

 All to the total value of thirty-eight thousand six hundred and fifty Leones (38,650) property of Frederick Henciles.

Assistant Superintendent of police Jeneba Bangura is prosecuting the matter.

Finally, a 17yrs-old Claudius Slow a Labourer is standing trial for Store Breaking and larceny contrary to section 26 (1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence on Sunday 4th December 2022 at No.1 25 City Road Wellington, the western area of Freetown with intent to steal break and entered into the store of Abu Bakarr Sesay and stole therein two sets of Spring, one Streaming box, one angle iron and six hundred empty lice bags all to the total value of nine thousand seven hundred Leones (9,700) Property of Abubakar Sesay.

 Deputy Superintendent of police Fatmata Kuyateh is Prosecuting the matter.

Meanwhile, all accused persons were sent back to the male correctional centre in Freetown.
