As a way of prompting transparency and accountability in Sierra Leone, the Zero Corruption Campaign (ZCC) which is a Transparency and Accountability Base Civil Society Organization, has seen the compelling reason to recognize and Award 80 citizens in Sierra Leone who have no corruption record in the past Commissions of Inquiry (C.O.I) and present government.
ZCC would also recognize and Award Senior Citizens, Business Tycoon, Media Houses, Media Personalities, Civil Society Activist Banks among others.
The Chief Executive Officer of ZCC intimated that the award is geared towards promoting transparency and accountability by way of sending messages to other citizens that they can be recognized for staying away from corruption. He furthered that this year’s Awardees will be 80 in total (for individuals, Bank, media house, media personalities, civil society activist and Business tycoons
The following are the categories of the award; Lifetime achievement Award, National Icon Award, Banking personality, MP of the year, Best Debating MP, Accountability voice, National service Award, Sporting personality of the year, Youth Ambassador, Political Icon of the year, Bank of the year, Betting company of the year, Mining company of the year, Ministry of the day Year, Minister of the year, Director of the year, Commissioner of the year, Revenue Agency of the year, Accountability Institution of the day, Mobile company operator of the year, Media House among others.
He continued that the National Recognition Award intends to recognize individuals who have rendered service to the benefit of the nation. He said Honor is a sacred virtue that has been recognized by man. He added that the National Recognition Award is a precious virtue everyone would like to have and none would like to lose. He maintained that it is gratifying and self-satisfactory for one to be recognized for an outstanding contribution in adding value to the development of the nation.
“The ZCC is a Civil Society Organization that works to complement the effort of the Anti-Corruption Commission through the promotion of integrity, accountability and transparency led initiatives for effective service delivery by both public and private sector institutions”, he said.
