Twenty years old Abdulai Sesay and twenty six years old Junior Frank have been ordered to be remanded at the male correctional center on allegations of theft.

They were arraigned before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Ross Road Court No.1 in Freetown on six count charges to wit Conspiracy to commit a felony, Robbery, Assault, Wounding with intent and Wounding.

According to the particulars of offence on Saturday 7th January 2023 at Mambaridge Maba the Western Area in Freetown conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit robbery with aggravation.

 On count two, both accused persons robbed Esther Monday Bangura one Vivo mobile phone valued five thousand five hundred Leones (5,500), wounded and assaulted the said complainant in a manner thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm 

Led in her examination in chief by deputy Superintendent of police Osman M Bangura complainant Esther Monday Bangura Student at UNITECH recognized the accused persons at the dock.

He said on the date of the incident, she was at home making a WhatsApp call when the second accused person took her Vivo mobile phone and handed it over to the first accused person.

She said both accused persons ran to the next compound leaving her speechless.

She said later she came to her senses and stated shouting thief, thief, thief.

Complainant further narrated that the witness one Mohamed told her that the accused persons are around and they’re searching for them.

She said later Mohamed saw the first accused person and he grabbed him and one Kabineh removed the Mobile phone from the first accused person and handed over it to her later.

Complainant said at the scene the second accused person grabbed her trying to take the mobile phone from her and she was shouting for help, when her cousin came she took the mobile phone from her and the second accused person pushed her on the floor.

 She explained that she hit her left leg were she sustained injury and the second accused person was arrested.

She said she went to PWD police post were they issued her a police medical request form for to go to the nearest hospital for treatment.

Complainant said she later went to the said police station to endorse the medical request form which was produced for identification and marked as Z.

She concluded that statement was obtained from her and her witness and the said mobile phone was handed over to her at the said police station.

Magistrate Kekura refused the accused persons bail and sent both of them to remand at the male correctional center in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to the 3rd February 2023 for further hearing.
