Ibrahim Sorie Conteh a bus conductor has been arraigned before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Ross Road Court No.1 in Freetown for wounding.
He is before the court on three count charges to wit wounding with intent, Wounding and Assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
According to the particulars of offence on Monday 9th January 2023 at Campbell Street Wellington the western area in Freetown, the accused maliciously wounded and assaulted Sahr Amara in a manner thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.
Led in evidence by deputy Superintendent of police Osman M Bangura, Prosecution witness number one Sahr Amara a student attending Saint ELENA Secondary School recognized the accused person in the dock.
He said on the 9th January 2023 he was at home when his father sends his junior brother to buy bread. He said when the boy returns, he informed them that someone has taken the bread from him.
Arriving at the scene, the witness said they met the accused person at Casino Wellington and he confronted him as to why he took the bread from his junior brother.
Explaining further, the witness said the accused responded saying you’re the “bouncer” , and slapped him on his right chin.
He said others who were with the accused joined to beat him up and in the process the accused person bite him on his right and left hand.
The said he was on the struggle when one of the friends of the accused gripped him and the other stabbed him on his face.
“My lord I collapsed on the floor and later saw myself at Connaught Hospital where the police officer gave me medical request form “, he stated.
He said the police took photograph of him and was examined and admitted for five days.
He concluded that as soon as he was discharged, he went to Wellington police post and endorsed the medical request form which was produce for identification and marked as Z.
He said statement was obtained from him and his witness.
At the conclusion of cross examination, counsel representing the accused person Arnold Kamara defers his cross examination for proper conference with his client.
In that light Magistrate Kekura refused the accused bail and ordered him to the male correctional center in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to the 1st February 2023 for further hearing.
