Sierra Leone’s tourism statistics for 2022 showed an increase in tourist arrivals of 2,000 for the Spanish travelers. These numbers will continue to change due to the penetrating marketing leads over the years in the very Spanish/European markets.
Sierra Leone’s participation in this year’s FITUR 2023 is fully supported through the Sierra Leone Economic Diversification Project sponsored by World Bank Sierra Leone.

Sierra Leone joined over 120, 000 exhibitors at FITUR 2023 in a five day exclusive B2B, image cleansing, positioning of the destination, meetings with key tour operators, products and services enterprises, tourism networking, airlines business meetings, knowledge reputation and transfer from every aspect of the tourism trade and exchange.
As FITUR commences on the 18th Jan 2023, Sierra Leone’s Tourism Minister shares center stage with senior tourism stakeholders from Spain, Croatia, Mexico, Ghana, The Gambia and the King of Spain; King Felipe VI who was in full attendance in the meet and greet session at Africa’s platform five (5).
Sierra Leone’s stand was full of well-deserved meetings set by the tourism rep. These meetings are moreover with seasoned tour operators, travel journalists, destination management organizations, and several interest groups who are desiring to visit Sierra Leone.
It is sacrosant, FITUR 2023 offers a set stage for the tourism industry’s core distribution channels, which attracts more top decision-makers and think tanks of institutions: these levels are ranging from Ministers of Governments, senior government officials, and key representatives from tourism boards, tourism collaborations from the Spanish markets, and others within and outside Spain.
Sierra Leone’s appearance is continuously becoming stronger and strategic with its modern design booth, attracting more trade visitors and the general public, who are expressing interest to visit the cultural heritage destination.
FITUR will last for five (5) business days, in which the General Manager- Mrs. Fatmata Mida Carew has presented detailed planned meetings and schedules throughout the events. These professional meetings will fully engage the Director of Tourism – Mr. Mohamed Jalloh, The Permanent Secretary- Mr. Edward Kwame Yankson, The Marketing Manager- Madam Lucinda Kargbo, The Administrative Manager- Mrs. Annmarie Kamara on a round table discussions with tourism handlers, tour operators, tourism investment corporations, and many more.
These engagements are sending hopeful signals that Sierra Leone indeed is an emerging tourist destination with multiple activities, ranging from ecotourism, cultural and heritage tourism, community tourism, and many enriched planned activities for every class of tourists.
